Shannon is a graduate student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Utah State University. Shannon Eilers has been involved in the Chimaera Hybrid Rocket project for 7 years. During this time he has participated in the design, construction and launch of three separate hybrid rockets and the test firing and instrumentation of multiple hybrid rocket motors. He was also the graduate student advisor and instructor for the 2008 USU grand prize winning USLI team. Also, Shannon has performed research on hybrid rocket regression rate correlations under a fellowship with the Rocky Mountain Space Grant Consortium. He has published papers on Hybrid Rocketry at the Joint Propulsion Conference and in the Journal for Spacecraft and Rocketry. Shannon also has industry experience with hybrid motor testing and instrumentation from an internship at SpaceDev in Poway, CA.
